Why I do triathlon:
I had started running in 2004 with my first 10K, just to stay in shape and found by signing up for races it kept me focused on getting my training done and I could see results and had achievements to gloat about. When I finished my first 10K I couldn’t believe I ran that far. I talked about it for days. So now when I think “you could do that” there’s a little piece of me that thinks maybe I can! I was running a couple of 21K a year but needed some more challenges without just pushing for the marathon. The triathlon offers great cross training and keeps me from burning out. (The ironman includes a marathon right? Oops!
… and I think everybody should stay as active as they can. Everybody wants balance in their life, Work – Family – Health. If you are not looking after yourself you are missing a big part of the picture. Working out is a huge stress reliever. It keeps me in shape, and keeps me in a great mood. It’s my “happy pill”
… and I have always respected and been in awe of Tri-athletes from afar. Now I know I was right to be. They are a great bunch of people, always working hard and playing hard. That’s living!

Triathlon Accomplishments:

  • 2009 – Tri a Tri -Coral Springs, Stettler Triathlon - Sprint Tri
  • 2010 – Wasa Lake, Sprint Tri, Stettler Triathlon, Sprint Tri., Banff-Olympic Tri (they had to shorten the swim so I still have to do an Olympic distance. Finished all of them and have my times to improve on now.

Triathlon Goals:
2011 – complete at least 3 Olympic distances with improvement every time and maybe….maybe ½ Ironman in 2012.

Additional Comments:
Rachel has been great! I can’t believe she remembers everything I say! She really listens to me and tries to make sure what she thinks will work for me, does. She is really big on “consistent training”, something I think she plans to teach me about.
