Since 2007Sporting background: Recreational running.
Why I do triathlon: My childhood summers were spent on the shores of the Shuswap Lake, swimming with my cousins. Every August, there was and is an Olympic distance triathlon held in Salmon Arm, with the swim start held literally down the beach from our cabin. I had many happy memories watching this event with my grandparents who loved it every year. As a result, I always wanted to do that particular race. After the birth of my second child in late 2007, I decided to go for it and signed up with Sara ( 2 months after giving birth). It not only gave me the ability to compete in this race but the training gave me that release from being a full time mom to two busy children. I love it!!
Triathlon Accomplishments: Winning my age group at the Salmon Arm triathlon ( a great moment for me). Competing at the famous Wildflower race in California in 2009 and completing my first half ironman at Lake Stevens, Washington in 2009.
Triathlon Goals: Ironman Canada 2010 and becoming a killer cyclist!
Additional Comments I do this sport because I love it. Not only does it give you physical and emotional strength, but I have made lifelong friends in the sport. It is my lifeline!
