Mercury Rising is pleased to announce a series of charity events for 2010-2011, called The Inspiration Series. Our vision is that the series will include 3 charity dinners, each with a motivational speaker and a silent auction. Money will be raised for various charities, one at each event. We have chosen speakers who have both a story to tell and who we feel can inspire us to new ways of thinking about our sport, our lives and ourselves. These events are open to everyone!

The first event in the series will be held in conjunction with Alyson Woloshyn, coach, motivator and cancer survivor. The event will raise money for Brain Cancer Research. The second and third events will feature 2 challenged athletes who are part of our Mercury Rising Team: Laura Dodds, who has overcome tremendous challenges in her life and suffers from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome and Lana Spreeman, who is a below-the-knee amputee and ex-national level skier. Both women are triathletes. Laura is doing her first Ironman in 2010 and Lana finished her first in 2009 in a little over 15 hours. These two inspire our team members at every camp and event and we are very pleased that they are willing to share their stories with us though the series. If you would like further information or would like to volunteer to help with the series, please use the contact page. We would love to hear from you!

The Inspiration Series: Event #1

This event will be held in Calgary, Alberta, in spring/summer 2010 and will raise money for Brain Cancer Research. We feel very fortunate that Alyson will be working with us on this project. Here are some details about Alyson, taken from her website: www.alysonwoloshyn.com.
